Foothill Regional Medical Center is a Healthgrades Five-Star Recipient for Treatment of Hip Fracture and Pneumonia
Foothill Regional Medical Center is five star rated for treatment of hip fracture and treatment of pneumonia, according to new research released by Healthgrades, the leading marketplace connecting doctors and patients.
These five-star ratings reflect Foothill Regional Medical Center’s dedication to delivering better-than-expected clinical outcomes for treatment of hip fracture and treatment of pneumonia and distinguish Foothill Regional Medical Center as one of the nation’s leading hospitals for specialty care. Foothill Regional Medical Center has received the five-star distinction for five years in a row (2019-2023).
“These outstanding ratings from Healthgrades are an affirmation not only of the dedication and skill of our physicians, nurses and other staff, but also of the investments and commitment we have made in providing high-quality care to the communities we serve,” said Araceli Lonergan, CEO of Foothill Regional Medical Center.
Healthgrades evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 31 common conditions and procedures at nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide to identify the top-performing hospitals for hip fracture treatment and treatment of pneumonia. This year’s analysis revealed significant variation in patient outcomes between five-star hospitals and one-star hospitals. From 2019 through 2021, Healthgrades found that, if all hospitals as a group performed similarly to five-star hospitals, on average, 201,586 lives could potentially have been saved, and 160,498 patients could have avoided potential complications.*
Additionally, according to Healthgrades, from 2019-2021, patients treated for pneumonia in hospitals with five stars for 30-day mortality have, on average, a 62.9 percent lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals with one-star for 30-day mortality.*
“We commend Foothill Regional Medical Center for their ongoing commitment to providing high-quality care to patients being treated for pneumonia and hip fracture,” said Brad Bowman, MD, chief medical officer and head of data science at Healthgrades. “Consumers can feel confident that hospitals with five-star ratings by Healthgrades have demonstrated their ability to deliver consistently exceptional outcomes.”
